Santa Ana Zoo

Today we went to the Santa Ana Zoo with Erika, Jayme, Kami, Holly, and Ruby. This was Mckenzie's first trip to a zoo. She fell asleep on the way, actually about 2 minutes before we got there! She missed some of the sights because she was snoozing in her stroller. She was able to see some monkeys, see and pet the animals in the farm area, and ride the train and carousel. Some of the monkeys were hard to see, but others were racing around their cages. Mckenzie's favorite things were the goats! I think she could have stood there forever petting them.

Arboretum Trip

Last Wednesday, I took Mckenzie to the Fullerton Arboretum with some of my friends from work. It was nice to get out of the house and do something a little different. Mckenzie ate like a champion during our picnic. She liked to practice her walking around the paths and grassy areas. She kept trying to climb into Ruby's stroller and was fascinated by the snaps in there. I think she liked it because it was like her own stroller - just a different pattern! She was a bit fussy during the trip. I don't know if it was because it was during her naptime or because she was teething or what. I hope the next trip will be better for her! We are going to the Santa Ana Zoo tomorrow.

13 Months Old

Yesterday Mckenzie turned 13 months old! That just seems so old! She is no longer looking like a baby; she is developing into an active toddler. She does not like to be held, unless she is giving out cuddles. She crawls so fast everywhere, and is really working hard on learning to walk. I know I will be posting about her first steps very soon! She loves to hold onto your fingers and walk everywhere!

Mckenzie is also picking up new words. We think she is starting to say "Kenzie" and "night-night." She talks in her own language a lot!

Mckenzie loves doesn't eat much breakfast, but loves to have lunch and dinner. She is strictly on regular food now. We are trying to have her eat as many different foods as possible. Her favorites right now are strawberries, watermelon, pears, peas, green beans, and macaroni and cheese. She has decided that she does not like carrots any more, but will pretty much eat a little bit of everything else we have given her.

Mckenzie is still taking a morning nap at about 10:30 each day. Sometimes she will take an afternoon nap too. We think she needs to go to bed earlier, but are having a hard time doing it.

Father's Day!

Yesterday was Father's Day. It was Doug's second Father's Day, but this one was probably better than the first. Mckenzie is getting older and able to show her love and affection to him more and more every day. It is obvious she loves her Daddy so much and it is obvious her Daddy loves her too! The two of them have a special connection. He is such a special man - a great husband and father. We are both lucky to have him around. :)

Three Days to SAHMdom

Three more days! Yahoo! Three more days until I get to stay at home with my baby! I CAN'T wait to be able to spend the days with Mckenzie. I have so much I want to do with her during the summer. I hope to be able to see her first steps, take her to park, have some playdates, and just hang out together. Three days is a short amount of time, but it seems like it will NEVER come. I feel like a little kid excited for Christmas morning. I hope that Mckenzie and I have a wonderful summer together! :)
